Activity 1: Translating sentences

Translate the following sentences into Russian. You’ll probably need to use the word весь!

Answers may vary a little, but should be close to the solution given.

  • Yesterday it rained all day.

    e.g. Вчера весь день шел дождь.

  • Barbara lived there all summer.

    e.g. Барбара жила там всё лето.

  • I was ill yesterday so I stayed in bed all day and all night.

    e.g. Вчера я заболел, поэтому весь день и всю ночь оставался в постели.

  • All my life I believed in it.

    e.g. Всю свою жизнь я верил в это.

  • They brought gifts for everyone.

    e.g. Всем принесли подарки.

  • She received support from everyone.

    e.g. Она получила поддержку ото всех.

  • He didn’t speak to me about all this.

    e.g. Он не говорил со мной обо всём этом.

  • They took everything with them.

    e.g. Они взяли всё с собой.

  • Everybody needs friends.

    e.g. Всем нужны друзья.

  • Jack knows everything about computers.

    e.g. Джек знает всё о компьютерах.

  • I like people here. Everyone is very friendly.

    e.g. Мне здесь нравятся люди. Все очень дружелюбны.

  • It’s a nice hotel. It’s comfortable and everything is clean.

    e.g. Это хороший отель. Удобный, и всё чисто.

  • Jack does not trust everyone.

    e.g. Джек не всем доверяет.

  • Let's have dinner! Everyone is hungry.

    e.g. Давай ужинать! Все голодны.

  • Everyone feels bad.

    e.g. Все чувствуют себя плохо.

  • Their entire house is full of books. There are books about everything.

    e.g. Весь их дом полон книг. Есть книги обо всем.

  • Everything you say is true.

    e.g. Все, что вы говорите - правда.

  • Everything happened very quickly.

Во странах образование играет очень важную роль. Престижный вуз, хороший диплом – это высокооплачиваемая работа в будущем. Согласны ли мы со этим?

школьники после школы хотят поступить в университет. нужно сдавать экзамены и учиться от зари до зари. Посмотрите, какие конкурсы во вузах: и в нашей стране, и во мире. В общем, известно, что учиться надо жизнь.

Я думаю, что сдать экзамены и поступить в университет - это только начало, потом надо пройти курсы, изучить предметы, продолжить учёбу в магистратуре, а потом, может быть, в аспирантуре.

Это значит провести своё свободное время в библиотеке, на встречах со профессорами, и сидеть перед компьютером или за книгами. Плюс ко , это может быть дорогим удовольствием. Не секрет, что университеты в США, а сегодня и по России, платные. Это значит, что за обучение, как и за , надо платить.

In all countries, education plays a very important role. A prestigious university and a good diploma mean a well-paid job in the future. Do we agree with all this?

All schoolchildren want to go to university after school. Everyone needs to take and pass exams and study from dawn to dusk. Look at the selective competitions in all universities: both in our country and in the whole world. In general, everyone knows that you need to study all your life.

I think that passing all the exams and entering the university is just the beginning, then you need to take all the courses, study all the subjects, continue your studies in the master's program, and then, maybe, in post-graduate school.

This means spending all your free time in the library, meeting with all the professors, and sitting in front of the computer or reading books. In addition to all this, all this can be expensive/lit. pleasure. It is no secret that you need to pay for all universities in the USA, and today throughout Russia too. This means that you have to pay for your education, like for everything else.
