Use the words in the bank to complete the sentences below.

Notes: (a) You can use the words more than once and (b) there can be more than one correct answer!

each
every
all
almost
not
  1. of the kids has a museum pass.

  2. We don’t say all here because the verb is singular

  3. student has a backpack.

  4. Not every is also acceptable. But we must use every here because student is singular (all) and we cannot use almost or not before each (each)

  5. of them have dark hair.

  6. Almost all is not a good answer, because only 4/7 have dark hair. We cannot say not every because the pronoun (them) is plural. We cannot say not each because not never comes before each

  7. kid is smiling.

  8. the kids are really excited.

  9. one wants to get on the bus and get going!

  10. Every one is also acceptable, but only for emphasis
