Expressions of “now”

The following Brazilian Portuguese words and phrases roughly mean “now.”

  • agora(now)

  • nesse/neste exato momento(right now)

  • nessa/nesta hora(this time)

  • (now)

  • presentemente(now, presently)

  • atualmente(currently)

  • no momento atual(now, at the current time)

  • no momento presente(now, at the present moment)

  • nesse/neste instante(now, in this moment)

  • nessa/nesta ocasião(now, in this occasion)

Adverbs of frequency

The following Brazilian Portuguese words and phrases are often used to describe frequency — how often something happens.

  • sempre(always)

  • quase sempre(usually)

  • normalmente(often)

  • frequentemente(often)

  • ocasionalmente(occasionally)

  • raramente(rarely)

  • nunca(never)

  • às vezes(sometimes)

  • todos os dias/anos/ séculos(every day/year/century)

  • de quando em quando(once in a while)

  • de quando em quando(every now and then)

  • regularmente(regularly)
