Brazilian Portuguese adjectives that end in -ão have slightly different feminine forms. There are two possible patterns:

  • -ão (masculine) → (feminine)

    sane

    vão

    futile

    alemão

    alemã

    German

  • -ão (masculine) → -ona (feminine)

    Masculine -ão
    Feminine -ona

    good-natured

    comilão

    comilona

    gluttonous

    chorão

    chorona

    whiny
